The Indonesian island of Sumatra grows and refines some of the most exciting coffees we know and this – from small producers around the village of Wih Lang in the Pegasing district – is certainly one of them. Here, 95 percent of the population are coffee farmers, making coffee the main income for the people in the area. The microclimate - which is influenced by the high altitude - together with the soil, where the pH value is between 6 to 7 pH, means that the coffee plants are well developed and flourishing. This in turn gives the coffee a uniquely distinct taste of spicy chocolate, herbs, grapefruit & berries.
